America’s Freshest Ice Cream Named "Best National Ice Cream" by Readers of Long Island Press

January 07, 2013 // Franchising.com // ATLANTA – When Long Islanders were asked to choose their favorite national ice cream, their resounding answer was: Carvel Ice Cream. This year, over 1.2 million Long Island Press readers voted in what has become the weekly newspaper’s biggest edition of the year. Of the ice cream shops nominated (including several local stores, as well as national chains Cold Stone Creamery and Ben & Jerry’s), Carvel was the clear winner with the highest percentage of votes in the entire category.

“Being named ‘Best National Ice Cream’ by the readers of Long Island Press is a huge honor,” says Lori Peterson, Vice President of Marketing for Carvel. “Since 1934, our focus has been to make guests happy by hand making the best ice cream treats possible. It’s nice to know that our efforts are still being recognized 79 years later.”

This is the 8th year the Long Island Press has conducted their Best of Long Island awards. Carvel was also named “Best National Ice Cream” in 2008, 2010 and 2011. Best of Long Island 2013 hits newsstands and the Internet (www.longislandpress.com) January 10th.
