Year of Free BBQ, Cancer Benefit Highlight Opening for First VooDoo BBQ in Florida

BBQ Boyz Franchise Team Plans 26 Fast Casual VooDoo BBQ Locations for Sunshine State

PEMBROKE PINES, FL - (Marketwire - Jan 10, 2013) - The owners of VooDoo BBQ & Grill's first of 26 planned stores in Florida will kick off their grand opening weekend with a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and a year's worth of free VooDoo food for the first 99 paying customers.

"There's been a lot of interest in our food ever since we announced we would be opening here," said Jack Flechner, president of BBQ Boyz, the team of investors that bought the franchise licenses in 2011. "We're expecting a large crowd to show up on our first day to take advantage of this special promotion, and we anticipate they'll be back again and again."

The new VooDoo, at 151 N. Hiatus Rd., will open to customers at 11 a.m. Sunday in the popular Pembroke Lake Square retail and shopping center in Pembroke Pines, a suburb southeast of Fort Lauderdale. VooDoo's corporate office in Louisiana approved the site because of its access to a pair of well-traveled multi-lane roads, a hospital and several large subdivisions, guaranteeing access to guests likely to dine out.

The day before opening, the restaurant will host a fundraiser for Relay For Life Pembroke Pines, which benefits the American Cancer Society. For a $10 donation, guests will earn a chance to sample everything on the VooDoo menu and support a great organization.

"Relay For Life has a big presence here in Pembroke, and we wanted to establish strong ties to the community right from the start," Flechner said.

On Sunday, the first 99 guests will receive vouchers for a weekly $10 credit at the store for an entire year. "We're confident that people will be so impressed with VooDoo's delicious Louisiana-Caribbean dishes and unique sides," Flechner said, "they'll spread the news far and wide to their friends, relatives and co-workers."
