Chem-Dry Hires Franchising Veteran to Lead Sales and Support Network Expansion

World’s Leading Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning Franchise Welcomes Tom Bernardo to Senior Post

January 30, 2013 // Franchising.com // Nashville, TN – Chem-Dry, the world’s largest carpet and upholstery cleaning service, announced the addition of Tom Bernardo as Senior Vice President of Franchise Sales and Development. Bernardo is charged with attracting top quality entrepreneurs to the concept and expanding the Chem-Dry franchise network, particularly in markets where the brand is less developed.

Bernardo has spent the bulk of his business career in franchise sales at Days Inn, Hospitality Franchise Systems (HFS), Cendant and ultimately Wyndham Worldwide, selling for and supporting the growth of eight franchised hotel brands. Bernardo grew from a sales director to running an entire sales force with more than 100 sales directors at its peak, meeting growth goals for 17 consecutive years. Most recently, Bernardo has been operating and managing his own restaurant outside of Columbus, Ohio, growing it from 40 seats to more than 350.

Bernardo was recently named “Business Person of the Year” in Westerville (Columbus, Ohio area). In his free time, Bernardo is a supporter of W.A.R.M. food bank in Westerville and coaches the Junior Football League of Westerville and I9 Sports League. Earlier in his career, Bernardo played professional football in Parma, Italy from 1987 to 1989 after playing in college at Cornell University.
