“We are very happy with these numbers especially in this current economic climate,” said Shannon Wilburn, CEO and Co-Founder of Just Between Friends Franchise System, Inc., based in Tulsa, Okla. “Our consignment events fill a big need in their communities. This growth not only helps our franchisees but it also means our consignors earned more money and our customers saved more money. That is a big help to so many families dealing with higher taxes and lower paychecks. We know these events are touching hundreds of thousands of families.”
During the Just Between Friends consignment events, local families can sell their new and gently used children’s and maternity items, while setting their own price and earning up to 70 percent of the sales. Franchise owners provide the venue and marketing to make the event a true success. Each event also partners with a local charity, providing donations.
In 1997, Just Between Friends was created in a living room in Tulsa, Oklahoma when Shannon Wilburn, a mother of two young children, and her friend Daven Tackett hosted a sale with 17 friends as consignors and had gross sales of $2000. That same sale grossed more than $650,000 at its fall event in 2012. In 2003, they formed Just Between Friends Franchise Systems, Inc. Wilburn is now sole owner of the franchise system which has 128 franchises in 25 states. The gross sales in 2012 topped 20 million dollars. Just Between Friends has been on the Inc.
