February 01, 2013 // Franchising.com // EAGLE Boys Coonabarabran franchisees Sue and Alan Norton will on Tuesday, February 5 donate every dollar that passes their counter to bush fire victims.
The couple that has owned the Eagle Boys store for almost six years saw the community in devastation in mid January when bush fires wreaked havoc and destroyed 53 houses.
“We knew we needed to do something to help the people who have supported us over the years. To have 53 houses destroyed within a community of 3,000 is absolutely horrific,” Mrs Norton said.
“We decided we would do as much as we could to help these people move on with their lives.”
Staff members were quick to get involved in the fundraiser and agreed to work for free.
“Almost all of our staff members know the people who have been affected and wanted to help. They immediately agreed to give up their time for the day, because they have a great deal of empathy. It is just the spirit of the country community,” Mrs Norton said.
To enable all proceeds to go to the appeal, Eagle Boys Support Office has waived franchise fees for the day and will donate product.
The local Woolworths has also come on board and will donate fresh produce while Coca-Cola Amatil has donated drinks.
“Every single cent will go to the Mayoral Disaster Appeal and we hope to raise close to $4,000,” Mrs Norton said.
The fundraiser will run from 11am until 9pm and pizzas will be sold from the special rate of $5.95.
“This price is a good way of boosting the community’s spirit during this tough time, while also encouraging more people to come to Eagle Boys Coonabarabran on the day to help raise as much money as possible,” Mrs Norton said.
Eagle Boys Coonabarabran is located at 77 John Street Coonabarabran and to order pizzas or donate money on Tuesday, February 5 please contact 02 6842 1366.
