Quaker Steak & Lube® Donates $7,015 To The Plano Independent School District

Casual-Dining Franchise Gives Back to the Plano, Texas Community 

February 25, 2013 // Franchising.com // SHARON, Pa. - The Award-Winning casual-dining franchise Quaker Steak & Lube®, known for its Best Wings USA and more than 20 sauces, announced today that its newest Texas location raised more than $7,015 during a week long promotion to support the Plano Independent School District (ISD).

The restaurant, located at SH 121 at Parkwood in Plano, Texas, opened to the public on Jan. 24. During the week of Feb. 4-10, guests were invited to dine at the new location, during which time The Lube® donated 10 percent of food proceeds to the Plano Independent School District. On Feb. 21, the Plano Lube management team presented a check for $7,015 to the Plano ISD's board members including, Mitch Bramlett , president, and Carlos Sastoque , executive director.

The Plano Independent School District (ISD) serves 55,302 students in 71 schools located in approximately 100 square miles of southwest Collin County. The Plano ISD is committed to providing an excellent education for all students. Graduates of the Plano ISD Educational Foundation are empowered to adapt to new learning opportunities throughout their lives, to be both creative and disciplined in their thinking, and to collaborate with and contribute to the global community.

The Plano restaurant has created close to 200 jobs for the area and is the third Quaker Steak & Lube® location to open in Texas. The new Lube encompasses an 8,000 square-foot design while accommodating seating for more than 360 people including a 1,000 square-foot brickyard patio, two full-service bars and over 34 flat screen TVs.

The compelling decor combined with its craveable food and supercharged events has created a cult-like following for The Lube®, as fans call it, for more than 38 years. Highlights of the Plano Lube include signature memorabilia such as a Texas Legends Dragster, a 1984 Corvette, a NASCAR hanging from the ceiling, local sports jerseys and two Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The restaurant will also hold weekly supercharged events including: Make a Difference Mondays, All You Can Eat Wings on Tuesday, Breaded Boneless Thursdays and Kids Eat Free Sundays.
