Home Instead Senior Care Franchisees to Hire More than 45,000 CAREGivers Nationwide in 2013

Franchise network's U.S. growth in sluggish economy is a key indicator of rising need for home care professionals.

OMAHA, Neb. - March 1, 2013 // PRNewswire // - Home Instead Senior Care®, the leading global provider of home care services for seniors, today announced that in 2013 its franchisees anticipate hiring 45,000 CAREGivers SM across all 50 states. The company's anticipated growth is a key indicator of the increasing demand for home care professionals and the strength of the industry. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of personal care aides is expected to grow by 70 percent from 2010 to 2020, much faster than the average for all occupations.

"The rate of aging adults is increasing faster than the economy, and talented caregivers are in great demand," said Paul Hogan , co-founder and chairman of Home Instead, Inc. "The more than 600 Home Instead Senior Care franchise locations in the United States are searching for tens of thousands of compassionate caregiving professionals to fill roles in senior in-home care services."

The majority of the positions will be part time, offering great flexibility to those managing busy schedules.

The growth of the Home Instead Senior Care franchise network is particularly good news for older Americans searching for second careers. Franchisees anticipate mature workers will fill many of the job openings. Currently, about 30 percent of the network's employees are 60 and older. For many, serving as a Home Instead CAREGiver helps them fulfill personal desires to give back, while offering job flexibility frequently sought by retirees. Many part-time opportunities are available for those seeking to stay active professionally, at reduced hours.

"I wanted to do something in retirement I loved, but only part time so I'd still have time for my grandkids, friends and travel," said Kathleen Eshelman , a CAREGiver with the Home Instead franchise in Bettendorf, Iowa. "Home Instead is a good fit for my lifestyle. The work is both rewarding and fun."

Home Instead CAREGiver positions also represent viable career paths for younger Americans who want to help others or pursue healthcare careers. Personal experiences inspired a large number of the current employees to pursue caregiving careers.

"When my 93-year-old great aunt needed in-home support, my family turned to Home Instead Senior Care," said Robyn Lee , a CAREGiver with the Home Instead franchise in Greensboro, N.C. "I was so impressed with their service; I decided I wanted to work for them. I truly enjoy my profession and the genuine satisfaction I feel in helping others."
