Former U.S. Senator Scott Brown Joins Nixon Peabody LLP

March 11, 2013  - Boston, MA. Former U.S. Senator Scott Brown has joined international law firm Nixon Peabody LLP as counsel in the firm’s Boston office. Given his background in public service at both the national and state levels, Brown will focus his practice on business and governmental affairs as they relate to the financial services industry as well as on commercial real estate matters.

“Nixon Peabody has a national presence and a strong reputation. The culture is one of collaboration among its lawyers and with clients,” said Brown. “During my time in politics, I never hesitated to reach across the aisle to work with members of any political party to secure a preferable outcome. My approach is consistent with the way Nixon Peabody does business and I believe we can be successful together.”

Brown, who left the U.S. Senate in January, has relationships with a range of companies from start-ups to the VCs who fund them to market-leading businesses in a wide array of industries. He can offer many types of legal services to his broad network of contacts.

“Scott’s ability to connect people with opportunities is an excellent fit with Nixon Peabody’s culture and strategic priorities,” said Andrew I. Glincher, CEO and managing partner of Nixon Peabody LLP. “As we anticipate the future needs of our clients, we are always looking for innovative ways to add value. Scott’s personality and entrepreneurial spirit will build strong relationships.”

Brown joins a number of political and government officials at Nixon Peabody including: Tom Reynolds, a five-term U.S. Congressman who leads the firm’s Government Relations practice; Jim Vallee, former majority leader of the Massachusetts House of Representatives; and Navjeet Bal, the former Massachusetts commissioner of revenue.

Prior to his service in the U.S. Senate, Brown served in the Massachusetts State House of Representatives (1998–2004) and then in the Massachusetts State Senate (2004–2010). He is currently a commentator for Fox News. Brown has served for 33 years in the Army National Guard, holding the rank of colonel in the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps. He graduated from Tufts University and earned his J.D. from Boston College Law School.
