Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers to Open on Oak Street in the Carrollton Neighborhood of Uptown New Orleans on Monday, March 25

March 19, 2013 // Franchising.com // Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers will open on Oak Street, Monday, March 25. This Mellow is located at 8227 Oak Street, in the middle of the Carrollton neighborhood of uptown New Orleans, just off of the St. Charles Street Car.

Owners, Elizabeth and Austin Kent and James Son, are thrilled to bring Mellow to this part of New Orleans. “We knew immediately that the Carrollton neighborhood of Uptown was the perfect fit for Mellow. Mellow and Oak Street each portray a funky vibe that fits right in with the culture and residents of this area,” states Elizabeth. “Our focus has been to restore the historical features of Oak Street and New Orleans while bringing out the funky roots of Mellow Mushroom. This we have accomplished, and I am ecstatic for the community to check it out,” states James.

Mellow Mushroom features a creative menu with a wide variety of pizzas, hoagies, salads, calzones and appetizers, highlighted by fresh, local produce, the highest quality unique meats and cheeses and signature ingredients. Options for vegetarians, vegans, kids and those that require gluten free items are also available.

Mellow Mushroom focuses on local ownership and operation, believing that to be the best way not only to serve the customer and the local community but also to convey the culture of the brand. As part of this philosophy, every new Mellow location hatches with a completely unique look and feel.

This Mellow emerged from a transformed two story house built in the early 1900s, still preserving the original façade, structure and a handful of interior décor. Indulge in this double story, fantastic concoction replete with spells, potions and even a Ouija board.

• The first floor, modeled after an apothecary and enhanced by mason jars and café lighting, brings customers out of the city and into the Bayou. 
• A “Bayou Parade” marches across the walls, strewn with New Orleans folk imagery of voodoo dolls, crawfish and snowballs. 
• A rainbow staircase leads you upstairs to the second floor, where the mood and color palette allude to “dark magic.”
• Upon entering the second floor, the ambiance changes to bold colors, punctuated by pillar candles and antler chandeliers, a place where local artist Bryan Cunningham’s imagery reveals swamis, tarot cards and fortune tellers.

To complement the dining experience at Mellow Mushroom, there is a bar on each floor serving a wide variety of craft beers and distilled spirits, with an emphasis on locally brewed products. Join the Mellow Beer Club and make your way through the assortment of high quality craft beers while earning member only rewards along the way. Boasting the only gallery seating available on Oak Street, this Mellow features seating for 8 overlooking the street. This Mellow also offers other private dining opportunities for your large gathering pleasure, along with several televisions and a 120’’HD projector.

Mellow Mushroom will operate 7 days a week, opening Sunday- Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Thursday – Saturday, 11 a.m. to 12 midnight.
