Collegiate Challenge Students Prep for the SAT

Appleton Learning Awards over $7,000 in Test Prep Scholarships

March 27, 2013 // Franchising.com // Houston, TX – Fifteen Collegiate Challenge students from Spring Branch Independent School District are prepping for the May 4 SAT with Appleton Learning. Appleton recently awarded fifteen test prep scholarships, providing the students an opportunity to improve their test scores.

A higher SAT score can help students gain admission into their dream college or qualify for more scholarship money. The Appleton Test Prep Course scholarships were awarded to Collegiate Challenge students from Spring Woods High School, Stratford High School, Westchester High School, and Northbrook High School.

“The Collegiate Challenge program is designed to help junior and senior students prepare for college and career,” said Linda Buchman, Community Relations Officer for Spring Branch Independent School District. “Our program has impacted over 750 students since 2000. Our growth is attributed to community partners like Appleton Learning.”

The Collegiate Challenge scholarship recipients will attend Appleton’s traditional five-week course, studying each content area of the test as well as gaining exposure to test taking strategies. In addition to instructional hours, the students will discover their geniuStyle, or unique learning style, take two practice tests, and have one-on-one strategy sessions with their instructor.

While Appleton’s test prep course is a small group made up of 15 students per course, the students receive individualized attention and instruction based on their geniuStyle. “Success on the SAT is not just about a score,” said Ray Brown, Appleton Branch Director. “Participating in a prep course can reinforce skills that students will need in college or their career,” adds Brown. “The game plans and individualized strategy sessions help students focus on their unique strengths and challenges, providing them a boost in self-confidence.”

In addition to their traditional course, they offer one-on-one test prep coaching, emergency test prep sessions and an SAT Boot Camp during the summer.
