United Franchise Group Announces Winner of 2013 J.J.’s Entrepreneurs Business Plan Competition

Two-time Palm Beach Atlantic University Competitor Wins $10,000 Grand Prize

West Palm Beach, FL (PRWEB) April 01, 2013 - The United Franchise Group (UFG), The Global Leader for Entrepreneurs, today announced the winners of its 2013 J.J.’s Entrepreneurs Business Plan competition in partnership with Palm Beach Atlantic University. Student Jude Abeler, a sophomore pre-law major, was awarded the grand prize of $10,000 for his idea of a structured new millennium journaling technique that earned him second place in the competition last year. Now called “Thoughtree” the business has been reconceived as a ‘personal thought network’.

This was the second year of the competition, which was developed to encourage and teach young students about the benefits of entrepreneurship and owning their own business and involved creating a business plan. The second-place prize of $5,000 was awarded to a trio of students who developed a plan for apparel with positive messages.

“The J.J.’s Entrepreneurs program provides a valuable opportunity for students to materialize their dreams and ideas by putting them down on paper to be judged professionally,” said first-place winner, Abeler. “The process results in a practical real world learning experience. The partnership with J.J. Prendamano and Ray Titus is extremely valuable as well.”

Students participating in the competition were mentored by business leaders Ray Titus, CEO of UFG and J.J. Prendamano, who together have more than 75 years of experience in business and franchise industries. A panel of judges representing members of the business community as well as University faculty and administrators reviewed the plans and chose the winners.

Prendamano, the program’s namesake. “This program fosters a spirit of mentoring and communication that greatly enhances their previous classroom experience.”

The J.J.’s Entrepreneur competition is part of a five-year $75,000 commitment to Palm Beach Atlantic University made by UFG.
