WingsUp! Wins People's Choice in 14th Annual Epilepsy of Waterloo Wellington Wing Competition Fundraiser

WingsUp! Waterloo wins People's Choice Award for fifth time with its delicious Thai sauce and Dry Cajun entries.

OAKVILLE, Ontario - April 12, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ - Celebrating their second win in as many years, the WingsUp! Waterloo team beamed as they accepted their fifth People's Choice Award at the 14th Annual Epilepsy of Waterloo Wellington Wing Competition last week at the St. George Banquet Hall in Waterloo.

Chris Rau , the WingsUp! Waterloo owner was quoted as saying, "It's an awesome cause and a great event! Going head to head with other wing restaurants is always exciting and coming away with a solid win as the People's Choice was just the perfect end to a really fun and worthwhile time!"

Deciding which WingsUp! gourmet wings to compete with wasn't a hard decision for Rau who chose Thai and Dry Cajun. Rau says, "Thai is one of our perennial favourites. It's exciting and incredibly delicious. Everyone who tries it loves it. It's a change from all of our other favourites and I knew it would stand out and get everyone's taste buds going! And of course, Dry Cajun is always a crowd pleaser. The combination of a Thai sauce offering and a Dry Cajun was pretty unique. But then again, we're WingsUp!, we're the gourmet wing experts. Like our radio commercials say, "These babies are delicious!"

Five restaurants took part in the Annual fundraiser, each providing 1000 wings. Wing lovers bought tickets to the event and then sampled wings from each restaurant filling in their ballot for their choice for Best Wing. In addition to the Wing Contest there was also a silent auction, live band and celebrity judges. All money raised went to epilepsy of Waterloo Wellington. With 300 wing lovers in attendance the event raised three times as much money as previous years.
