New CKO Kickboxing Gym Opens in North Brunswick, N.J., Becomes Popular Meeting Place for Moms

NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. - April 17, 2013 // PRNewswire // - CKO Kickboxing, one of the fastest-growing health fitness franchises, opened its newest fitness kickboxing gym at 2188 US 130, North Brunswick in January. The gym, located across from the Shop Rite, is turning into a favorite meeting place for moms who want to get fit. The high-quality, cross-training gym provides a family-friendly setting to Middlesex County residents who are looking for an alternative to Pilates, yoga, martial arts and spinning classes.

"It's like a family here. Everyone knows everyone. It's like we have a PTA meeting here. I love doing this every single day. I love North Brunswick. It's a great town," said Nicholas Lancetti , who, with his wife Linda, are franchisees of CKO North Brunswick, located two blocks from North Brunswick High School in the Renaissance Plaza.

"We're excited to offer cardio boxing classes in North Brunswick," said Lancetti, a former marketing executive from Brooklyn.

The 2,100 square-foot gym features 32 heavy bags and is open 6 days a week. A childcare center is located next door. CKO Kickboxing North Brunswick will post its kickboxing classes online.

"It's an awesome feeling knowing you are helping people out every single day and they thank you for it. Clients say, 'I'm in the best shape of my life and I'm 59 years old,' or 'I lost 35 pounds in 2 months,' said Lancetti. "Women don't want to lift weights. They want to come in, get out quickly and get results fast."

Not only are they franchisees, they started off as clients of CKO Kickboxing in Brooklyn.

"My wife and I went to CKO and really liked the classes. I was stressed out from work, so I started going three times a week, then four times, then five times. It is actually working. I could see my muscles toning up in a short period of time," he said.

"I saw the guys who owned the franchise. They were having so much fun. I thought, 'What would happen if we did this all the time?' I said to my wife, 'Let's buy a CKO franchise.'"

CKO Kickboxing is effective for men and women, old and young.

"The beauty of our exercise classes is that anybody can do it. Since it focuses more on the fitness aspect rather than the martial art, it is not intimidating. The instructor controls the tempo, but the client controls the intensity. It is this integration that allows an individual to maximize their fitness potential and minimize the risk of injury. Add upbeat music to the mix and you have a fun, effective and safe workout," said Joe Andreula , Founder of CKO Kickboxing.

Kickboxing is a cardio workout that helps people lose weight.

"We provide a full-body workout. Depending on your size and the intensity of your workout, research states you could burn between 800 and 1,200 calories in a one-hour session. Many routines we use have been scientifically researched. For example, we pioneered the use of heavy bags, whereas other gyms kicked and punched air. The resistance provided by heavy bags allows for better muscle tone and burning calories at a faster rate," Andreula said.

"CKO Kickboxing is a true nationwide sports fitness franchise with gyms from coast to coast," said Andreula.

CKO Kickboxing is one of America's fastest-growing franchises according to industry standard Entrepreneur Magazine, which included the kickboxing gym franchise in its Franchise 500 list of best franchises. The magazine also rated CKO Kickboxing as the 48th top new franchise in 2011.

"CKO Kickboxing is emerging as one of the leading fitness franchise opportunities in the country," he said. CKO Kickboxing also was named a 2012 Military Friendly Franchise® by G.I. Jobs Magazine.

CKO Kickboxing continues to grow because new franchise owners receive ongoing training on how to run a business and the coaching on the latest trends in health and fitness.

"We treat our franchisee owners like they are family, because they are," Andreula said. "They aren't numbers or faceless profit centers. They are people who we want to help succeed. That's why so many people, including former military members, want to take advantage of our fitness franchise opportunity."
