Homewatch CareGivers Wins 2013 Case In Point Platinum Awards For Best Long Term Care Program

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. - May 9, 2013 – Homewatch CareGivers, a premier international provider of full-service home care, was named a winner of the 2013 Case in Point Platinum Awards in the Best Long Term Care category for its Male Family Caregiving Program.

The Case in Point Platinum Awards recognize the most successful and innovative case management programs that improve access to quality care, promote wellness and advance care coordination across the care continuum.

According to the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project, up to 45 percent of family caregivers are men. Despite the growing number of male caregivers, their needs have been underserved and their contributions have often been unrecognized.

“Winning the Case in Point Platinum Award is an important step in raising the profile of male family caregivers among health care providers, policymakers and the general public,” said Homewatch CareGivers International President Leann Reynolds. “Homewatch CareGivers is committed to educating and supporting husbands, sons and grandsons allowing them to provide the best possible care for their loved ones.”

The Male Family Caregiver Program was created by Homewatch CareGivers to break down stereotypical caregiving perceptions and help fight the social isolation experienced by many male family caregivers. This educational initiative offers caregiving men resources and tools so they can succeed in providing vital care to their aging parents, ill spouses and other family members.

The program includes the Male Caregiver Community, an online resource that allows men to discuss caregiving challenges, access practical caregiving information and receive advice from peers and experts in a comfortable environment, free of charge at any time.
