Curves 15th Annual Food Drive Surpasses Donation Goal

Curves Member and Club Donations Benefit Local Food Banks and Children's Charity "Blessings in a Backpack"

Donations Total Approximately 77 Million Lbs. Since Inception of Food Drive

WACO, Texas - May 10, 2013 // PRNewswire // - Curves International, a leader in the weight management category and the largest weight loss and fitness franchise in the world, announced today that the 2013 Curves 15th Annual Food Drive across U.S. and Canada brought in more than the anticipated 100,000 donation goal, confirming that the Company will donate 10% of March 2013 profits to national charity Blessings in a Backpack. Blessings in a Backpack is a non-profit organization that ensures that impoverished elementary school children are fed on the weekends throughout the year. The annual Food Drive invites members across the U.S. and Canada to donate bags of non-perishable food or cash to support their local community food bank. Additionally, for the first time in the history of the food drive, Curves pledged to make a donation to a national charity if a certain contribution goal was met.

"We are honored to receive a generous donation from Curves International, Inc. to help ensure school children have healthy meals seven days a week," said Nikki Grizzle , director of marketing and PR with Blessings in a Backpack.

"We couldn't be more proud of our clubs and members. The contributions for 2013 bring the total amount of contributions made since the food drive's inception to roughly 77 million lbs. of food," said Mike Raymond , vice president of marketing for Curves. "The Curves Food Drive allows our franchisees and members the opportunity to help local communities, and they do so with generosity and pride. I am also thrilled to present Blessings in a Backpack with a donation on behalf of our members and club owners."

Examples of Curves generosity – and creativity - spanned the country. Members of the Benton, IL Curves pushed over-flowing shopping carts in a food parade to the local food pantry to deliver their donations. In the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan location a lively game of BINGO ensued as members earned BINGO cards for donations. And the ladies of White Marsh, MD Curves participated in a friendly competition among the Morning Glories, Lunch Bunch, and Evening Ladies – with the Morning Glories ultimately prevailing.

"This is what the Curves community is all about," Raymond continued. "We're feeding the need of women seeking a healthy lifestyle, and we're also feeding the need of our local communities."
