VooDoo BBQ & Grill BBQ Franchise Makes First Appearance on FastCasual.com Movers & Shakers List

Influential Organization Includes Rising New Orleans BBQ Franchise on Annual List of Top Fast Casual Restaurant Concepts, People, Trends

NEW ORLEANS, LA - (Marketwired - May 9, 2013) - VooDoo BBQ & Grill has made its first appearance on FastCasual.com's annual and influential Movers & Shakers list, which names the top franchises, people, trends and technological advances among fast-casual restaurants.

VooDoo BBQ, a fast-growing New Orleans BBQ franchise, has been expanding aggressively in the last two years, transforming itself from a handful of restaurants in south Louisiana to a juggernaut with 57 planned locations in six states. VooDoo BBQ is committed to the fast-casual concept, which focuses on quality meals served quickly at affordable prices.

"This is great news for VooDoo BBQ. Our system has grown tremendously since we bought into the fast-casual concept a few years ago," said VooDoo CEO Tony Avila. "There's a reason why fast-casual is the hottest trend in food franchising -- it offers the convenience of fast food with better-tasting, healthier meals and low overhead."

For the last few years, fast-casual concepts such as Five Guys Burgers & Fries, Firehouse Subs and Chipotle Mexican Grill have exploded in the United States. Eight of the 10 fastest-growing restaurant chains with sales of more than $2 million are fast-casual chains, according to the restaurant consulting and research firm Technomic.

FastCasual.com, an online trade publication for the segment, has compiled its Movers & Shakers list for the last eight years. The 2012 list named Smashburger; Zoës Kitchen; Firehouse Subs; Zoup! and Freebirds World Burrito as its top five concepts. FastCasual.com will reveal the final rankings for the 2013 list at its banquet May 19.

"We look forward to finding out where we are on the list," Avila said. "Even more, we look forward to years of success as a top-ranked fast-casual franchise system with unique food, fun and atmosphere."
