Caring Transitions of Southern Arizona Captures "Franchisee of the Year" Award

Sherri Gillette and her Tucson-based team were awarded the top franchisee honor from Caring Transitions at the 2013 National Conference.

Tucson, Arizona and Cincinnati, Ohio (PRWEB) May 13, 2013 - Sherri Gillette understands what it feels like trying to take care of a loved one while separated by great distance; she’s now making that task easier for so many and alleviating the burden.

Gillette, owner of Caring Transitions of Southern Arizona, recently captured Caring Transitions’ “Franchisee of the Year” award for doubling business during the past year -- rising up to the largest franchise in the system -- and mentoring a number of new owners. The award was presented at Caring Transitions’ national conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., amid more than two days of informational sessions, networking opportunities and roundtable meetings.

“We are very honored,” Gillette said. “It’s our first time receiving this recognition and it all came about because of our wonderful senior clients and the commitment of our team to provide our clients with a gentle and very caring transition.”

Gillette’s franchise emerged from personal experience – when Gillette and her husband, Matt, sought help in relocating Gillette’s mother, it was nowhere to be found. The burden of finding someone to support her mother’s relocation from Iowa to Arizona was overwhelming. In the midst of juggling a full-time job and managing a family, they were, essentially, on their own. It required relying on multiple vendors and hours spent on the phone. Now Gillette is looking to prevent that sense of helpless isolation and serve as an on-site relocation advocate for other families facing similar circumstances.

“When I began researching franchises and found out about Caring Transitions, I was drawn to what we could do to assist families who needed help in transitioning parents, through a single source. When I experienced it, it was so much more difficult than it needed to be,” she noted.

According to Ray Rofkar, director of Operations for Caring Transitions, most franchisees have a deep-rooted desire to help people and are sensitive to the situations that customers are experiencing in their lives. “The strength of Caring Transitions is that we can help with any or all phases of a transitional change. We can handle all facets of a situation, or augment other providers to fill in gaps that they may not cover. We strive to give everyone a tailored, customized plan to deal with his or her unique situation,” he noted.

Caring Transitions franchise owners are backed up by a variety of services designed to support their clients and provide a comprehensive solution to their challenges. Support services include a unique online selling platform, localized website template and support, reduced rates with national partners, online training modules, and a dedicated, professional corporate support team, Rofkar said.

Prior to opening her franchise, Gillette garnered years of corporate experience, in sales, marketing and public relations. She’s now putting that background to good use, leading a team of 22 employees – a combination of both full-time, part-time, and contract team members. And it’s definitely a family business – Gillette’s mother-in-law, Sharlene, serves as the Customer Experience Manager while Matt is the Chief Operations Officer. Gillette’s business partner and Senior Move Manager Ann Williams is also an integral part of the team.

Open since November 2010, Gillette describes Southern Arizona as “the perfect market,” for all of their services, ranging from senior relocation, downsizing, and household liquidation to estate sales. “So many of our clients moved here 20 years ago and as they age, they may end up feeling isolated and overwhelmed, with their children and grandchildren scattered across the country,” she said.

With their services in high demand, Gillette is looking to double her business in the coming year. Her franchise also serves as a training center for Caring Transitions, hosting new franchisees from across the country for hands-on training. “In a week, they’re going to get a hands-on picture of what this business is all about…and they will leave excited about the future of the business in their respective markets,” she noted.

“We do it all. We’re on a mission – we’re serving our market well…and are getting better with every client experience. We want to be the market leader in every category,” Gillette said.
