J.D. Byrider Sells its Millionth Vehicle

Massachusetts Customer Given Free Car in Celebration of Milestone

May 24, 2013 // Franchising.com // CARMEL, Ind. – J.D. Byrider, the country’s leading used car sales and finance enterprise, reached a major milestone this month, selling its one millionth vehicle. Katelyn Wilson of Natick, Mass., won a 2006 Hyundai Tiburon for being at the right place at the right time!

“I was in complete shock!” said Wilson, 20, who is employed at a child care center. “I didn’t believe it at first.” Wilson purchased the vehicle May 14; however, J.D. Byrider has paid off her contract and refunded her down payment, enabling her to have the car for free.

Dealership owner Lance Vachon was thrilled to sell the millionth vehicle and be able to give it to Wilson in celebration of the milestone. “We love this community and are excited for the opportunity to give back,” said Vachon, whose J.D. Byrider dealership at 635 Washington St., South Attleboro, Mass., has served customers since 2002. Gerry Vachon, Lance’s father and successful new car dealer in the South Attleboro area commented, “I’ve grown up in this town and have been around here all my life. This is one of the most meaningful events I’ve been a part of, and it’s wonderful that we’re able to help this young lady.”

J.D. Byrider CEO, Steve Wedding, was on hand for the official presentation of the vehicle. Commenting on the sale of the one millionth vehicle, Wedding said, “It’s been quite a ride. I joined J.D. Byrider more than 20 years ago, when we had only a few dealerships. I’m proud to see Jim DeVoe’s vision more of a reality every day. We’ve focused on selling good cars for people who need credit and we’re really glad Katie chose Byrider as the way to go.”

Jim England, President of the J.D. Byrider Advertising Group, Inc. also added, “I’ve had the privilege of working with Byrider since 1996 when there were fewer than 100 dealerships and we had just hit the 100,000 sales number. I really want to thank ALL of our dealerships for working hard to establish good relationships with our customers. In particular, here in Southern New England, I want to thank the Wiggins family, owners of five Byrider dealerships in this area, and the Vachons, for helping to build the Byrider brand here and position us as THE place to shop.”

J.D. Byrider recently reached another milestone - $1 billion in outstanding retail installment contracts – at the end of 2012. During the 24 years the company has been in business, it has sold and financed cars for customers with credit challenges who may otherwise not be able to secure reliable transportation. And, J.D. Byrider has maintained 95 percent sales satisfaction and 91 percent service satisfaction ratings across the dealership network.
