Baby Boot Camp® Mother Love Fitness Challenge inspires Winners to Lose

Out of 884 participants, two women rise to the challenge to be recognized as America’s Fittest Moms.

SARASOTA, FL May 21, 2013 – Baby Boot Camp’s stroller fitness program announced today the winners of its sixth annual Mother Love (MOLO) Fitness Challenge, Benita Riesgra of Team Baby Boot Camp Albuquerque, N.M., in the Mom-and-Baby Division and Soksopha Sorensen of Team Baby Boot Camp Houston, Texas, in the Mom-and-Toddler Division.

Beginning in February, Baby Boot Camp challenged moms across America to focus on improving their health, fitness and nutrition. Winners were nominated by their local Baby Boot Camp owners, who submitted essays measurements, and before-and-after photos, according to Founder & CEO Kristen Horler.

“We were overwhelmed by the impact MOLO 2013 had on participants across the U.S.,” Horler said. “Women embraced the chance to strengthen themselves both physically and emotionally. We were amazed to see that the transformations went beyond the participants and extended to their entire families.”

According to Sorensen’s instructor, Maria Gorosito, three months was enough time to take participants on a “transformative journey.”

“This woman who did not like to exercise took the MOLO Challenge by storm,” Gorosito said. “Since Soksopha had not worked out in some time, it was definitely a struggle. But her determination in each class to get stronger was remarkable.”

Sorensen, the mother of three ages 4, 2 and 1, agreed that the Challenge changed her physically as well as emotionally.

“MOLO was the push I needed to help me overcome the hurdle that kept me from loving myself again,” Sorensen said. “In three short months, I’ve lost 20 pounds, can hold a two-minute plank, can do 47 pushups in one minute, and most importantly have gained so much knowledge about fitness and nutrition. Emotionally, I feel happier than I ever have.”

In the division for moms with children under 12 months old, Riesgraf stood out to her instructor, Meghan Phlepsen, as a supportive participant but astounded her with the final results.

“Benita flew under my radar until I took her final measurements,” Phlepsen said. “I knew she was getting stronger, but I had no idea the magnitude of her improvements. She lost 18.4 pounds, which is 11.65% of her body weight, and 11.25 inches, including 4 inches off her waist.”

Riesgraf credited her entire family for their support during the Challenge.

“After a cross-country move 18 months ago, a third pregnancy in three years and becoming caregivers to our 92-year-old grandfather, our lifestyle raced to become the iconic fast-food family,” Riesgraf said. “MOLO could not have come to our family at a better time. In three months, our house has completed a transformation: We eliminated dairy, meat and more than 90 percent of processed foods, and we increased consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables.”

Baby Boot Camp will award Sorensen and Riesgraf prize packages from the Mother Love Fitness Challenge sponsors, including a Mountain Buggy stroller, ZICO Coconut Water and CalNaturale Svelte protein shakes.
