Wingstop Takes Flight in North Carolina

570-Unit Wing Chain Announces Multi-Unit Agreement to Develop Charlotte Area

May 30, 2013 // Franchising.com // RICHARDSON, Texas – Wingstop is expanding in North Carolina. The 570-unit chicken wing chain has signed a multi-unit development agreement to open the first Wingstop restaurants in Charlotte, beginning with a location at 9211 N. Tryon Street this fall.

The new opening is thanks to father-daughter entrepreneurial team, Miguel A. Flores Stringel and Alexandra Flores. The pair signed a three-store agreement that also includes Pineville, N.C., Matthew, N.C. and Harrisburg, N.C.

“My family and I were first introduced to Wingstop when I attended college in Kingsville, Texas,” said Alexandra Flores. “The food was always delicious, cooked-to-order and we consistently had a great experience. When we started looking for a new investment, we immediately thought of Wingstop and decided that it was a perfect fit for guests in Charlotte.”

Miguel and Alexandra currently own and operate several agricultural-based businesses throughout Mexico, including equipment supply stores as well as several crop plantations.

“As a business owner, it’s easy to embrace the Wingstop concept because the menu is so simple and focused,” added Flores. “Plus the restaurants have a small footprint, and there’s a strong emphasis on carryout, so it takes less time to get off the ground. We’re excited to get started.”

With a sole focus on cooked-to-order chicken, the Wingstop menu features classic and boneless wings, chicken strips and Glider sandwiches – all sauced and tossed in 10 intense flavors. Homemade side dishes include fresh-cut seasoned fries, made daily from Idaho potatoes, baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, veggie sticks and house made ranch and bleu cheese dips.

“There’s no other concept like Wingstop in Charlotte,” added Flores. “It has a delicious menu that gets you hooked. The wings are made fresh, and I can’t wait for fans to try the fries! Wingstop’s fries are unlike any others with just the right amount of salt and sweet, and I know that as soon as we open our doors we’ll have lines out the door.”
