The downloadable “The 2013 Fast Casual Top 100 Movers & Shakers” was released last week after an awards gala the night before in Chicago, timed to coincide with the National Restaurant Association tradeshow.
Top That! Pizza made its debut into the annual list of “Top 50 Fast Casual Movers and Shakers” at number 43. The two-year old brand was also mentioned specifically as a trendsetter throughout the expansive report.
“It’s an honor to be included among so many other brands that are both bigger and more established than we are,” said Lori Walderich, Top That! Pizza’s Co-Founder and CMO.
Part of the report focused on ten specific technology trends. Four of those trends include Digital Menu boards, Nutritional Analysis from MenuTrinfo, the TurboChef 2020 Oven and Coca-Cola Freestyle fountain – all of which were incorporated into Top That! Pizza’s concept back in 2010, when the first Top That! Pizza unit opened in Tulsa, OK.
Another section of the report focused on ten specific industry trends of which three are already part of the Top That! Pizza concept. They include International Franchising, Customization and Pizza as a Fast Casual Concept. (Top That! Pizza is the first in the category to have a unit open outside of the United States.)
“Until we pioneered the idea of unlimited toppings on single-priced custom personal pizzas created to order in a sub-shop format and baked in under three minutes, nobody was really talking about this type of pizza,” adds Lori. “Amazingly just six months after we entered the marketplace we had two competitors on our heels opening units and the media was buzzing.” she added. “The lively competition in this category by some really big names is a very good thing – not just for us, but for everyone in this brand new niche.”
Top That!
