Home Instead Senior Care® Franchise Network Expands into Mexico

Home Care Provider Expands Service Areas to Meet Rising Demand

OMAHA, Neb. - June 10, 2013 // PRNewswire // - Home Instead Senior Care®, the world's leading provider of non-medical in-home care services for seniors, will soon be providing services through its first franchise in Mexico, marking the 17th country in which Home Instead will have operations.

The expansion is particularly important as the demand for quality senior care and companionship services continues to grow in Mexico. The number of Mexicans aged 65 and older has more than doubled in the past 50 years, a trend that is expected to continue through 2050. Today, Home Instead is taking an important first step to meet this demand by opening up to its first franchise in Monterrey to connect area residents to CAREGiversSM who provide in-home care services and companionship for older adults.

"We are pleased to have a partner that will bring Home Instead's high standards for quality care and services into Mexico, where the needs of the senior population reflect the increased need we have seen across the globe," said Roger Baumgart, Chief Executive Officer for Home Instead, Inc. "The significant social, governmental and financial challenges associated for caring with the rapidly aging world population know no borders, and neither does Home Instead's personal approach to caregiving."

Fifty-three percent of those worldwide who care for aging parents or relatives are spending 40 hours or more per week doing so, with 37 percent spending 80 hours or more. Home Instead services, which include specialized Alzheimer's care, shopping, meal preparation, light housekeeping, errands, medication reminders, personal care and companionship, help to ease the burden of these long hours on families. These services are currently offered by nearly 1,000 franchises worldwide, a number which continues to grow as global demand continues to rise.

"Home Instead's mission is to not only ensure that the growing number of seniors in Mexico and across the world receive the quality care that they deserve in their homes," explains Yoshino Nakajima, Chief Operating Officer of Global Operations for Home Instead, Inc., "but also to ease the stress that caregiving puts on many families, allowing them to feel comfortable knowing their loved ones are being treated with kindness and respect by a Home Instead CAREGiver."

Home Instead's presence in Mexico begins with the opening of the first franchise in Monterrey, Mexico. The first master franchise in Mexico has been awarded to Elia Gonzalez and Raul Lozano, who together bring more than 25 years of senior leadership experience in medical device distribution and manufacturing. Lozano most recently led the startup of such manufacturing operations in Monterrey, from infrastructure development to hiring of management and all employees and overseeing production.

"Raul and I are thrilled for the opportunity to reach Mexico's aging population so that they receive the best care possible within the home," says Gonzalez, a graduate of Universidad Regiomontana with previous experience managing seven offices and four warehouses across Mexico for a major medical device distributor. "Our previous management and industry expertise will help us establish Home Instead Senior Care in Mexico, but it is our passion for serving our country's seniors that we believe will allow us to be truly successful."

"We are excited to bring the Home Instead Senior Care franchise network to Mexico," says Lozano. "Our goal is to bring quality care to as many seniors and families as possible."
