New Rules Modern Workers Live By: Flexibility, Mobility, Independence Report Shows Workers Eschew the Corporate Executive for More Entrepreneurial Style

Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) June 17, 2013 - Intelligent Office has released The Work IQ Report 2013, which highlights growing changes among today’s workforce, including professionals, entrepreneurs, small business owners and independent contractors. The report shows key results and findings following a series of surveys of more than 3,000 people.

Findings demonstrate that modern workers increasingly view flexibility, mobility, and independence as crucial components of their work life. In other words – the way we work is changing. What most companies and workers would have seen as luxuries in the past, many workers now view as essential to their work satisfaction.

“Our Work IQ survey series has shed a new and often surprising light on today’s workers, and what motivates today’s workforce is vastly different from what we have seen in the past,” said Tom Camplese, Chief Operating Officer, Intelligent Office. “Having worked with and researched professionals of all types, we released The Work IQ Report to identify the drivers behind this change and to provide new insight into the future of working.”

Key findings from the report include:

• In a survey of over 1,000 people, not a single respondent aspired to be a corporate executive.
• People are looking for a new balance – Nearly half of the respondents want a work hard/play hard work life balance.
• 70% of people work from alternative locations on a regular basis, with 22% visiting on a weekly basis.
• While working outside of their offices, modern professionals are working independently, holding meetings, and working while traveling.
• Almost one­ third of people are spending an hour or more a day on social media at work.

Camplese continued, “The shift away from the desire to become corporate executives, combined with continually advancing technology, means that these trends are only going to continue going forward. Modern professionals are increasingly challenging the conventions of working and are rewriting the rules of how, when and where business is conducted.”
