Huntington Learning Center Hosts the 2013 Huntington School Services Convention

ORADELL, NJ - (Marketwired - Jun 18, 2013) - Huntington Learning Center hosted its annual Huntington School Services Convention June 6, 2013, at the Hotel Sax in Chicago, Illinois. Huntington School Services franchisees, staff and corporate employees met to discuss best practices for quality instruction, new marketing initiatives, annual results, goals for the coming years, and more. The theme of this year's convention -- the fourth in the company's history -- was "Team up for Triumph," to celebrate the partnerships that Huntington forms with school districts and non-profit organizations to provide academic support for students.

The 2013 Huntington School Services Convention featured an awards ceremony to honor franchisees for providing exceptional service to students to date in the current academic year. Tom Murphy and Kathleen Moore of Philadelphia, PA received the Greatest Gain in Reading award for achieving a 1.7 grade level increase in Reading with his students; Mark and Diane Kilcommons of Chicago, IL received the Greatest Gain in Math award for achieving a 2.43 grade level increase in Math with his students; Carter Risdon of Chicago, IL received the Greatest Number of Students award with 1,961 students serviced this academic year.

Huntington was one of the nation's first supplemental education services providers to offer federally funded tutoring services (through the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001) to students at eligible schools, and has provided free tutoring to thousands of students nationwide. Huntington launched the Huntington School Services franchise in 2009 to help students nationwide improve their academic performance and increase test scores.

With more than 30 states now holding waivers from NCLB provisions, Huntington still stands behind its results and is working to continue offering services where it is still available. In addition, Huntington has refocused and begun to partner with non-profit organizations to continue to provide much needed tutoring services to students who deserve it.

"It is important that we take this time to recognize the success that we have experienced and the drastic improvements that our students have made academically," said Taryn Weitzman, Director of Operations for Huntington School Services. "We are confident in our ability to support not only schools and school districts, but private organizations as well, in providing students the academic support they need. As a result of our outstanding achievements, we remain enthusiastic that we will continue to build partnerships and support many more students."
