Former Wall Streeter Now Helping Main Street With The Interface Financial Group (IFG) Franchise
West Hampton resident provides cash flow to Long Island small businesses.
West Hampton, NY (PRWEB) June 19, 2013 - Leaving behind a 30-year career on Wall Street, Steve Curry traded the fast pace and cutthroat atmosphere of Manhattan for a simpler existence in the Hamptons. Slowing down for his wife and three children was an adjustment, but Curry has adapted to his idyllic life – managing a private brokerage office with a seven-person staff and, more recently, opening an Interface Financial Group franchise.
When he first left Wall Street, Curry wasn’t looking for a franchise opportunity but had a friend in the franchise consulting business. Out of curiosity, the pair profiled Curry and he matched with the IFG franchise. Curry was impressed with the IFG model and the 40 years of solid financial history behind the brand. As he says, “It seemed like a good fit with my financial background. I got very interested.”
With his background in the financial world, Curry’s interest soon turned into a full-fledged investment – a thriving franchise that’s dedicated to helping small businesses with their finances and bringing them to the next level. Though he’s not brokering million-dollar deals anymore, Curry’s happy he’s not letting his financial skills go to waste. His efforts these days are focused on providing small businesses the necessary cash flow so they can stay up and running.
After Hurricane Sandy, the Long Island community was in disarray. Small-scale contractors, electricians and plumbers stepped up to help with repairs and new construction. But like any small businesses, sometimes the money gets tied up in the job, leaving sub-contractors and suppliers unpaid. Typically, this is the point where a business owner would approach a bank for a loan. Since 2008, however, bank loan regulations and requirements are much more stringent, leaving some businesses unable to secure additional funds. “There’s where we come in -- to help those small businesses provide capital through our unique system. They grow stronger with our help and can later pursue traditional funding methods,” Curry said.
Part of Curry’s success thus far is that he has community ties and relationships with bankers, loan managers and other financial figures who know that he has something to offer outside of the traditional financial options. "Bankers say, ‘I can’t help (small business owners), but maybe Steve Curry and IFG can.’ "
Curry also isn’t afraid to get out in the community and get to know the people who live and work there. Once he’s connected on a personal level, the referrals to his business increase and more people can take advantage of the services he offers. Whether he provides long-term assistance or simply helps a client in one shot, Curry is happy to have people who need his skills. “There are a lot of good people out there who just need a little help,” he said. “It’s a real sense of satisfaction when you help a small business restore themselves to a bankable level.”
While any financial business owner faces some uncertainty, for Curry it’s no sweat. “Your money is at risk, but having experience in the stock market, I’m used to taking risks. It’s no different from anything I’d been doing for the past 30 years.”
