Slowing down for his wife and three children was an adjustment, but Curry has adapted to his idyllic life – managing a private brokerage office with a seven-person staff and, more recently, opening an Interface Financial Group franchise.

When he first left Wall Street, Curry wasn’t looking for a franchise opportunity but had a friend in the franchise consulting business. Part of Curry’s success thus far is that he has community ties and relationships with bankers, loan managers and other financial figures who know that he has something to offer outside of the traditional financial options. Curry also isn’t afraid to get out in the community and get to know the people who live and work there. Once he’s connected on a personal level, the referrals to his business increase and more people can take advantage of the services he offers. Whether he provides long-term assistance or simply helps a client in one shot, Curry is happy to have people who need his skills. “There are a lot of good people out there who just need a little help,” he said. “It’s a real sense of satisfaction when you help a small business restore themselves to a bankable level.”

While any financial business owner faces some uncertainty, for Curry it’s no sweat. “Your money is at risk, but having experience in the stock market, I’m used to taking risks. It’s no different from anything I’d been doing for the past 30 years.”
