Camp Bow Wow Goes Green... Literally; Camp Bow Wow: The Only Dog Care Facility in the Greater Rochester Area with Modular Turf

Camp Bow Wow is all about the dogs, but this newest upgrade is also beneficial for the environment! Camp Bow Wow recently made the decision to replace the gravel in its outdoor play yards with new synthetic turf.

Rochester, NY, June 24, 2013 - PR.com) - Camp Bow Wow is all about the dogs, but this newest upgrade is also beneficial for the environment. Camp Bow Wow recently made the decision to replace the gravel in its outdoor play yards with new synthetic turf.

"The new grass has been a desire of ours for a long time. When we opened in 2008, pea gravel was the best and safest option for the dogs. I am very excited that we are finally able to install this awesome looking, safe replacement for the pea gravel. We are the only facility in Rochester with this kind of play surface and one of only a few Camps in the country that has it." -Lee Wilson, Camp Owner.

Benefits for the dogs:

  • No Muddy Paws: the dogs can go outside rain or shine and will stay much cleaner than with the gravel or real grass alternatives.
  • The turf reduces the amount of dust in the play yards, which is more healthful for the dogs' sensitive noses and their lungs.
  • Turf is kinder to the dog’s feet than gravel and they love the rolling around on it.
  • The turf is a modular system that they can easily dismantle and clean—around, above, and below each panel. This allows their counselors to clean more thoroughly. Cleaner play yards cut down the spread of germs (The yards also smell better!).

Synthetic Turf: All the benefits of real grass, no harmful environmental impact.

Conserves water: According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), over one-third of residential water is used for lawn irrigation nationwide, totaling more than four billion gallons of water a day. A real grass play yard would consume a vast amount of water. Cleaning pea gravel is also a water intensive process. Camp Bow Wow's switch from pea gravel to turf will save about 10,000 gallons of water.

No Harmful Pesticides: In order to keep real grass looking nice and bug free it is often necessary to use pesticides that can be harmful to the environment and to dogs or humans. Camp Bow Wow's new Turf requires no pesticides and uses far less cleaning chemicals than the pea gravel.

"Not only do the play yards look a lot nicer, but the dogs are absolutely thrilled with the new surface to run around on. Check out our Camper Cams (at: http://www.campbowwow.com/us/ny/rochester/view-live-web-camsr/camp-bow-wow-camper-camsr) to see the results!"- Lee Wilson, Owner
