W Hotels Worldwide Joins Forces with the Human Rights Campaign in Support of Nationwide Equality

Showcases Commitment to LGBT Community through Partnership with Largest LGBT Civil Rights Organization

NEW YORK - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Jun. 25, 2013 - W Hotels Worldwide today announced a strategic partnership with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. As an HRC Gold National Partner, the W brand will offer exclusive packages and incentives that benefit HRC, further showcasing its commitment to the community as an advocate for nationwide equality. With this new partnership, W Hotels will continue to develop effective LGBT programming that allows W guests to celebrate their pride while supporting an important cause.

"Hospitality is at our core, and welcoming all people, no matter their sexual orientation, into our dynamic W Hotels is in our DNA," said Dave Marr, Senior Vice President, North American Brand Management, Starwood Hotels & Resorts. "We are proud to partner with HRC as an advocate for nationwide equality as we continue to develop compelling LGBT programming, allowing W guests to celebrate their pride while supporting an important cause."

"HRC is proud of our on-going partnership with W Hotels," said John Lake, Director of Corporate Development for HRC. "Starwood's longtime 100% score on the HRC Corporate Equality Index shows a strong commitment to their LGBT employees, and this year-long package offers LGBT and allied travelers an opportunity to support a company that gives back to the community."

Starting now, the W brand will celebrate by inviting travelers to play during Pride with an exclusive HRC Pride 365 package available at W Hotels & Retreats across the United States and Canada. For every package purchased, W Hotels will donate $10 to the Human Rights Campaign in support of LGBT equality nationwide. The specially designed package includes:

  • A Fabulous Room
  • Triple Starpoints to use toward future stays
  • One-year membership to HRC
  • $10 donation to HRC to support equality

In addition to the Pride 365 Package, W Hotels will partner with the Human Rights Campaign on various events and galas throughout the year including VIP dinners in top regional markets, auction packages to some of W's newly renovated properties in San Diego, New Orleans - French Quarter, Seattle, and more.

Since W Hotels first opened its doors in New York City in 1998, the W brand has been a strong supporter of the LGBT community. Over the years, W has displayed dynamic Pride programming, charitable partnerships, same-sex marriage initiatives and has received recognition from leading LGBT organizations. The brand remains a top destination for cutting-edge commitment ceremonies across the country. In 2011, the W Hotels in New York City were the first to offer same-sex marriage packages when New York State made history by passing marriage equality. Additionally, W continues to support the Logo New/Now/Next Awards in Los Angeles as well as San Francisco's annual PRIDE parade.
