WIN Home Inspection Honors Veterans Year Long
By heavily recruiting veterans and waiving franchise fees, WIN eases vets into civilian life with success.
MADISON, Ala. - June 25, 2013 // PRNewswire // - In the fall of 2010, "Operation Enduring Opportunity" was taking shape within the International Franchise Association (IFA). The campaign to hire and recruit 75,000 veterans and their spouses, along with 5,000 Wounded Warriors, inspired the WIN Home Inspection team to create "WIN for America", a program to honor veterans. By awarding qualified veterans the opportunity to waive all or part of their franchise fee, WIN for America was created to aid the veterans' transition into the civilian business world, while capitalizing on their valuable military skills. Since the inception of the program, 12 veterans have been recipients of Gold, Silver or Bronze level awards, allowing for 100%, 50% or 10% of their franchise fee to be waived with several more to be named before the end of the year.
U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Retired General Shilo Harris chose WIN as "the gateway to a new beginning." Wounded Warrior and motivational speaker, Harris looked to WIN as the stepping-stone into a new life. "I'm able to provide for my family through a built in successful system that allows me to thrive." He also employs his son within his business in San Antonio, TX, while his wife handles marketing, making the business a family affair.
Leonard Curto, Air Force Veteran located in Thunderbird, Arizona adds, "The WIN for America program is what caught my attention and brought me to WIN Home Inspection. It's an amazing concept for veterans, and I'm grateful WIN has made this process easy for me to become my own boss."
Corporal Michael Ryan Palmer joined his parents in the family business in Bend, OR in February 2013, after five years of active duty with the Marines. "Most of the guys I know are still trying to get back on their feet, and I was really lucky to have this business to come straight into," says Palmer. "I couldn't ask for a smoother transition; I went from work in uniform to working in a polo. Every single day I feel like I accomplish something. Coming out of the Marine Corps, I felt like I was really making a difference and I still feel like that, helping my clients make one of the biggest decisions of their life. What I do matters."
WIN is proud to be a part of the movement in which the veteran unemployment rate is declining.
