ColorTyme Closes 2013 Summer Retreat with Entertaining Final Night Event

June 26, 2013 // Franchising.com // GREENSBORO, Ga. – At the conclusion of a four-day retreat on the banks of Lake Oconee, ColorTyme closed its 2013 Summer Retreat in grand fashion with a final night event lakeside at the Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation.

Throughout the night, attendees enjoyed the picturesque evening on the lake, complete with a live band, food and drinks, door prizes, carnival-style games and closing remarks from ColorTyme CEO Cathy Skula and COO Fred Mattox. As night fell, the Retreat officially ended with a bang, as guests were treated to a personalized fireworks show over the water.

Highlights of this year’s event included a corporate update and newly updated vendor buying show, where selected vendors displayed their products for attending franchisees. Other events included the Sixth Annual Willie Talley Circle of Excellence Golf Classic and a day spent on the water at Lake Oconee.

Attendees also continued to embrace Kids Across America, a nonprofit organization designed to give urban youth a life-changing experience via one-week camp sessions each summer, whom ColorTyme has supported for 20 years. A number of franchisees donated prizes won during the event to KAA, including monetary awards. A silent auction was held throughout the week on a collection of Lake Oconee-themed paintings painted and donated by a ColorTyme franchisee, with all proceeds going directly to KAA. ColorTyme matched 50 percent of the total funds raised, bringing the total amount donated to Kids Across America to over $1,000 for the four-day retreat.

“Ending the final night with fireworks was an appropriate conclusion to this year’s Retreat,” said Skula. “It was an event to be celebrated, and one that was both productive and entertaining for all those in attendance.”

At the start of 2014, ColorTyme will begin to celebrate its 35th anniversary during its National Convention, January 19-22 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Frisco, Texas.
