Starwood Continues Growth in Latin America with the Opening of Sheraton San Jose Costa Rica

Sheraton's Robust Portfolio Expands in Latin America with the Opening of the Newest Sheraton Branded Hotel in the Region

STAMFORD, Conn. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Jul. 8, 2013 - Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT) and EXT Promociones S.A. today announced the opening of Sheraton San Jose, marking the return of the Sheraton brand into Costa Rica, one of the most important travel destinations in the Americas. Managed by GHL Hoteles, the 172 room hotel will offer all of the brand's signature amenities and services, including Sheraton Club Lounge, the all-white Sheraton Sweet Sleeper® bed, designed to meet AAA's Five Diamond Award® criteria, Link@Sheraton experienced with Microsoft®, and Sheraton Fitness programmed by Core® Performance.

The opening of the Sheraton San Jose is part of Sheraton's aggressive global expansion plan, which seeks to reach a milestone of 500 hotels by 2015. It is also an important step in Starwood's Latin American growth strategy. The company expects to reach 100 hotels in operation or development by the end of 2013 and with this opening currently has 76 hotels in operation. In Central America alone, Starwood now operates 12 hotels across five brands in Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Guatemala. Sheraton is the company's powerhouse brand with more than 30 hotels across 12 countries, including Costa Rica.

The Sheraton San Jose is located in the thriving business district of Escazu, home to more than 50 international firms, and one of the most sought-out destinations for business visitors to the capital city. The hotel is also easily accessible from the city's international airport Aeropuerto Juan Santamaria.

It also has 6,000 square feet of flexible meeting space including four meeting rooms, and an outdoor terrace with capacity for more than 180 people.
