Card Connection Franchisee Doubles Sales by Creating ‘Theatre’

July 11, 2013 // Franchising.com // Leading greeting card publisher and franchisor, Card Connection, has today announced that new Brighton franchisee Veni Nandavaram has more than doubled his sales in one retail customer’s store by improving the display and creating ‘theatre’. Veni, who is a former retailer himself, works with his wife Vara to supply Card Connection’s range of more than 1,500 greeting cards and party accessories to around 180 stores in Brighton and the surrounding area.

“We use the word ‘theatre’ to describe the creation of a greeting card display that is attractive and encourages buying behaviour,” confirms Michael Johnson, managing director, Card Connection. “Veni and Vara joined us as franchisees earlier this year, and we have already been impressed by their ability to improve the look of displays and the results speak for themselves.”

Veni explains: “I visited one of my retail accounts in Brighton which had a dilemma. The manager had a ‘dead-space corner’ in her store, and with space at a premium wanted to make use of this. We added a wall panel and therefore turned the 1200mm Bartuf display of 112 pockets into 160 pockets and created a stunning ‘card corner’ where consumers could browse at their leisure. The new installation looks really inviting and sales have more than doubled within a month of the new display being created.

“This is just one example of where we have already been able to start improving our franchise,” continues Veni. “We are looking forward to continuing to create these ‘win-win’ situations for our retail customers. Drawing on our previous retail expertise we can find simple ways to help maximise sales for retailers and increase our profit from individual accounts at the same time.”

Card Connection is part of UK Greetings, which is a subsidiary of the largest publicly owned greeting card publisher in the world and has limited vacancies for franchisees that are keen to run an expanding business. Suitable candidates would ideally have some management experience as, once established, and depending on the size of the territory, they could be expected to employ a small team, operate a small warehouse and have several liveried vans on the road.

Since the franchise network in the UK is complete, the available opportunities now consist of acquiring an already-established territory from an existing franchisee. These vary in price according to their level of development, but start at £7K + Stock + Card Connection fee with earnings potential in excess of £50k per annum.

For further information about franchises for sale, please see: www.card-connection.co.uk Territories currently available include: Southend-on-Sea, Plymouth, Nottingham/Grantham, Leicester, Manchester, Cardiff, Southport/Wigan, Macclesfield/Buxton, Dundee/Kirkcaldy and some areas in London.
