Jamba Juice and GENYOUth Foundation Announce a Multi-Year Partership to Support Our Nation’s Youth

Jamba® and GENYOUth Foundation Efforts will Focus on Improving Health and Wellness in Schools Across the Country

EMERYVILLE, Calif. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Jul. 31, 2013 - Jamba Juice Company (NASDAQ:JMBA), a leading healthy, active lifestyle brand, and GENYOUth Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing child health and wellness through improved nutrition and physical activity, announced today that the organizations have entered into a multi-year partnership agreement that leverages the unique assets and leadership of both organizations to support students across the country. Jamba Juice and GENYOUth share a commitment to the health and vitality of our nation’s youth, and will combine forces to work with schools, community groups and other national organizations to design programs and initiatives, which impact better dietary and physical activity habits in children.

Jamba Juice and GENYOUth’s efforts kicked off in May with a “Team Up For a Healthy Breakfast Challenge” in Pasadena high schools that successfully drove incremental participation in school cafeteria breakfasts. The challenge encouraged students to eat a nutritious breakfast through a fun competition among schools.

“The partnership with the GENYOUth Foundation will accelerate Jamba’s efforts to improve the health of our youth,” said Jamba Juice chairman, president and CEO James D. White. “We look forward to collaborating with them to broaden awareness of the important issue of childhood obesity and to engage leaders of other organizations and the community to create innovative solutions for childhood health.”

Moving forward, Jamba Juice and GENYOUth will come together around other initiatives including regional Town Halls in San Francisco and St. Louis. The Town Halls will bring together leaders across education, nutrition, fitness, and community groups, as well as students and parents, in order to address current health issues and develop solutions at a local level. Jamba Juice will also be supporting GENYOUth’s entrepreneurial pitch and invest program, AdVenture Capital, which rewards grants to students and gives them the opportunity to own change in their schools.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Jamba Juice, a company that prioritizes nutrition and physical activity and takes action to recognize the difference students can make in their own schools and communities through healthier choices,” said GENYOUth’s CEO, Alexis Glick.
