August 07, 2013 // Franchising.com // CHICAGO - Potbelly Sandwich Shop will open its doors at 3076 44th St. SW, Grandville, Mich., Tuesday, Aug. 13. This will give area residents the chance to experience the lively, neighborhood hangout that makes Potbelly Sandwich Shop “The Best Place for Lunch.”
Shannon Gronowski is the general manager and has been with Potbelly for nearly 10 years, having worked in several leadership positions at a number of shops. “I would often visit the Grand Rapids area while I attended college at Ferris State,” Gronowski said. “Honestly, I fell in love with the city and its surrounding towns and I knew that someday, if given the chance, I wanted to make the area my home. When I was offered the opportunity to come and open a store in this new market, I was jumping for joy.”
The new shop will partner with Women at Risk during its pre-opening event, the Oven Warming Party, to raise awareness and funds for the organization. “Women at Risk is located right down the street from Potbelly,” Gronowski said. “We are honored to partner with this group because they do a lot of good work throughout the community and world to help at-risk women and children.”
Known for its good vibes in addition to great sandwiches, live music has been a part of the Potbelly experience since the first shop opened in 1977. Neighborhood musicians put a little rhythm into lunch by performing live at Potbelly Sandwich Shops around the country. “We will have live music beginning the day we open,” Gronowski said. “Mike Stefaniak will be performing—he is a fan favorite and plays at many Potbelly locations.” Musicians interested in performing at the new Grandville Potbelly should contact the shop manager.
Potbelly has built a passionate, loyal following of fans who spread the word about the fun, energetic atmosphere and great food. The unique Potbelly experience is defined by its combination of toasty warm sandwiches, hand-dipped shakes, tasty made-to-order salads, as well as friendly and lively people. “There are so many things that make the Potbelly experience unique,” Gronowski said. “It all starts with the people we hire and their interactions with guests to make their visits legendary. The delicious food we prepare fresh every day, the fresh-baked cookies we make throughout the day and our awesomely talented musicians who play live music while guests enjoy their meals are just a few more reasons Potbelly is truly exceptional.”
This is the first Potbelly Sandwich Shop to open in the Grand Rapids area and the shop will staff approximately 30 employees and managers. The location is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Delivery will begin a few weeks after the opening and be available Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a $25 order minimum.
