AlignLife of Peoria Supports Local Food Bank with Donated Canned Goods

AlignLife of Peoria wrapped up their third annual Thanksgiving in July event on Tuesday and is thrilled to announce that their canned food drive efforts collected 337 canned goods to donate to Midwest Food Bank in Peoria.

(PRWEB) August 08, 2013 - AlignLife of Peoria wrapped up their third annual Thanksgiving in July event on Tuesday and is thrilled to announce that their canned food drive efforts collected 337 canned goods to donate to Midwest Food Bank in Peoria. They encouraged their local community to get involved and even branched out to other local businesses to spread the word about the drive which spanned the last two weeks of July.

According to Raleigh Reed, Director of Operations at Midwest Food Bank, the need for food in our community at this time is bigger and greater than it’s ever been due to the increasing number of lost jobs in our community and schools being out of session during the summer months. He reports that he is seeing not only a rise in the increasing number of families but a huge rise in the number of children that are in need of food from local agencies. He is happy to team up with local businesses in our community such as AlignLife to help meet the increasing needs of local food agencies.

Recent studies have revealed links between poor nutrition and a number of health conditions such as fatigue, depression, and even obesity. The Centers for Disease Control associate poor nutrition as a risk factor for the leading causes of death which include heart disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes. Andrea Schnowske D.C., a family chiropractor at AlignLife reports, “There really is a need for better nutrition especially for children in our community. When children aren’t eating regular meals it can result in long-term development, cognitive and even physical health challenges that can tax the whole family."
