Bojangles’ Continues Support of Muscular Dystrophy Association Summer Camp with Chicken, Fixin’s and Fundraising

Bojangles’ Franchise Partner A&D of Greensborough Brings “Bo Time” to MDA Campers

STOKESDALE, N.C. (Aug. 8, 2013) – Bojangles’ Stokesdale-based franchise partner A&D of Greensborough, Inc. is supporting a 15-year Bojangles’ tradition of not only raising funds to send children to the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s (MDA) Camp, but is also providing its world-famous chicken and fixin’s for more than 250 campers, volunteers and guests.

Camp Carefree, located at 275 Carefree Lane in Stokesdale, N.C., provides a magical environment for 6 to 17-year-olds who are affected with a variety of neuromuscular diseases. A&D joined the campers to visit and serve a Southern-style Bojangles’ lunch during the camp’s “VIP Day” on Wednesday, Aug. 7. VIP Day provides local MDA sponsors and supporters an opportunity to meet campers and volunteers over lunch.

“We feel privileged to be part of MDA camp with these strong young people and their incredible families,” said A&D of Greensborough President and Co-founder Ash Dinakaran. “Meeting the campers was a wonderful experience for us. We’re proud to support MDA’s cause by helping to provide this opportunity to children affected by neuromuscular diseases.”

Each March Bojangles’ and its franchise partners raise funds through its in-store Shamrocks Against Dystrophy campaign to send children to MDA Summer Camp, providing campers with the opportunity to develop life-long friendships, try new activities, share interests and build self-confidence. With the support of Bojangles’ generous customers, more than $446,000 was raised this year alone to send over 550 children to MDA Summer Camp. Over the past decade the company has raised more than $3 million. By the end of the summer, Bojangles’ and its franchise partners will have fed more than 700 campers and volunteers at four different MDA camps throughout its footprint with support from ROBO, LLC based in Roanoke, Va., BOJ of Western N.C., LLC in Arden, N.C., and A&D of Greensborough Inc. in Stokesdale, N.C.

“MDA recognizes Bojangles’ passion for our cause and we’re deeply appreciative of their continued commitment and significant contributions over the past 15 years of our partnership,” said MDA Divisional Director Theresa Miller. “It is because of the generosity of sponsors like Bojangles’ that we are able to bring so many young people affected by neuromuscular diseases together for a memorable and uplifting experience at MDA Camp.”

Proceeds donated to MDA from Bojangles’ fundraising efforts have aided in breakthrough research for Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy and other neuromuscular diseases, and enabled MDA to provide numerous services at no cost to those registered with the organization – including medical visits, repairs for wheelchairs and leg braces, support groups and vaccines.
