Nurse Next Door Simultaneously Launches Two Seattle Area Locations to Address Needs of Seniors

Locally Owned and Operated Locations to Offer Industry Leading In-Home Senior Care

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) August 12, 2013 - By 2030, the number of people over the age of 65 in Seattle will increase two-fold, accounting for nearly 20 percent of the population. The increasing senior population is driving growth in the home health care industry. One of North America’s fastest growing providers, Nurse Next Door, has launched two individually owned and operated locations today in Redmond and Bothell that will service the greater Seattle area.

Nurse Next Door was recently featured on CNBC’s Nightly Business Report in a segment that discussed long-term care options for American’s and the shift towards home based care. Nurse Next Door is prepared to meet the massive challenge of caring for a generation of seniors with a care model unparalleled in the industry.

"The majority of senior care today is the same as it was decades ago, task-based and clinical," said Nurse Next Door King County owner Michael Wegmann. "Nurse Next Door believes that it’s about caring, not just health care and so we tailor care around all of a client’s needs which includes emotional and psychological needs. It’s about helping seniors celebrate aging."

The new Nurse Next Door King County Eastside franchise is locally owned and operated by entrepreneur Michael Wegmann and his wife Cris Wegmann. The Puget Sound location is owned by Merle Miller and her husband Aaron Miller. Both couples were drawn to the industry after personal experiences with family care-giving.

“We saw the need for a lively home care brand in Washington that would set a new bar for senior care,” said Merle Miller, Nurse Next Door Puget Sound co-owner. “We address the unspoken needs of clients by asking what they used to love doing but no longer do. We uncover past hobbies and passions, like golfing, even if it’s just in their living room with a putting green. This is the type of care that truly makes a difference to a seniors’ life.”

The two locations are on course to hire nearly 100 employees within the next six months, fueling one of America’s fastest growing job markets. According the Bureau of Labor Statistics, home health and personal care aides will see a growth rate of 70 percent by 2020, adding more than 1.3 million positions.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing such a unique success model to our community and service our aging population” added Wegmann. “We are not only addressing the needs of seniors, we are also creating jobs and contributing to the local economy – something I’m tremendously proud of.”

Nurse Next Door’s new Puget Sound and King County Eastside offices offer a full spectrum of in-home care services ranging from a few hours-per-week of caring companionship to around-the-clock care from a registered nurse.
