RESCUECOM’s 2013 Q2 Computer Reliability Report released; including tablets!

The results are in for RESCUECOM’s 2013 Q2 Computer Reliability Report; Samsung continues a significant lead, while Apple shows impressive gains in computer reliability scores.

August 21, 2013 // Franchising.com // SYRACUSE, N.Y.  - "Apple’s performance in computer reliability demonstrated the greatest improvement over the first quarter of this year," stated David Milman, CEO of RESCUECOM. "While Apple’s computer market share has remained relatively unchanged from the first quarter, accounting for about 26%, Apple’s reliability score has nearly doubled." The number of Tech Support requests received by RESCUECOM’s Level 3 Certified technicians for Apple computers has been reduced by more than half during the second quarter of 2013.

The computer reliability report scores for 2013 Q2 are:

1. Samsung (874)
2. Apple (503)
3. Lenovo/IBM (230)
4. ASUS (191)
5. Dell (56)
6. HP (53)
7. Toshiba (41)
9. Acer (21)

Samsung still is the top performer in computer reliability with a repair share of only slightly more than one percent. Samsung remains ahead of the next nearest manufacturer by a wide margin.

Lenovo/IBM, a long-time top performer in computer reliability, has only dropped as low as third place in recent quarterly reports. Over the past two years, Lenovo/IBM has made small market share gains, fluctuating between five and eight percent, yet holding very strong in computer reliability.

HP and Dell have consistently ranked in the mid-range of top performers in computer reliability, but HP has always been positioned ahead of Dell. For the first time in the history of RESCUECOM computer reliability studies, Dell has overtaken HP!

ASUS pushed through to second in computer reliability for the second half of 2012. In the first two quarters of 2013, ASUS still maintains fourth position, above other leading manufacturers.

RESCUECOM determines the manufacturer’s reliability by comparing their market share of shipped computers in a given time period to the percentage of computer repair calls RESCUECOM’s Level-3 Certified Technicians handle for the same manufacturer.

The most reliable computer manufacturers (order of reliability), along with the data used to calculate reliability scores are as follows:

Manufacturer U.S. Computer Market Share1, 3
