Texas Major League Baseball Pitcher Derek Holland Shakes Things Up at Red Robin Restaurants for a Good Cause on Sept. 12

All Milkshake Sales on National Chocolate Milkshake Day to Benefit Tarrant Area Food Bank

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. - Sept. 12, 2013 // PRNewswire // - The team might have the day off, but Texas Major League Baseball fans will still have something to cheer about today. Texas MLB pitcher Derek Holland will serve up milkshakes and sign autographs at three Fort Worth-area Red Robin restaurants today, National Chocolate Milkshake Day. In addition, all milkshake sales at Dallas/Fort Worth-area Red Robins restaurants on Sept. 12 will benefit the Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB).

In an interview earlier this year, Derek Holland expressed his love of Red Robin's milkshakes. To celebrate Holland's love of the frosty treat on National Chocolate Milkshake Day, Holland will visit the Grapevine Red Robin from 11:00 a.m. to noon, the Arlington Highlands Red Robin from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., and the newest Fort Worth Red Robin at Hulen Mall from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.* During these times, Holland will serve shakes to guests and sign autographs for fans at each location.

"I've always enjoyed Red Robin's milkshakes, and I'm excited to not only serve up shakes to fans at three Red Robin restaurants, but also to give back to such a worthy cause," said Derek Holland, Texas MLB pitcher. "I hope that both fans of Red Robin and my team will come out on National Chocolate Milkshake Day to enjoy a great shake and support the Tarrant Area Food Bank."

Guests who purchase any of Red Robin's Malt Shoppe Shakes – including classic flavors like chocolate and vanilla, and Red Robin favorites like the Mint Brownie Shake, Salted Caramel Shake, Cookie Magic, or the new Spiced Pumpkin Pie Shake – will support an important local cause, Tarrant Area Food Bank. Tarrant Area Food Bank, a private nonprofit, is a primary source of donated food for 300 hunger-relief charities in 13 counties surrounding Fort Worth, Texas. All sales of milkshakes on Sept. 12 will be donated to the food bank to support its distribution of over 2 million pounds of food per month, as well as Kids Cafes, BackPacks for Kids and, feeding programs for senior citizens.

"We invite Texas MLB fans and Red Robin guests to join us at Red Robin on National Chocolate Milkshake Day to celebrate an American classic – the craveable Red Robin milkshake," said Denny Marie Post, Red Robin's senior vice president and chief marketing officer. "A true American treat, milkshakes and burgers are the perfect pair, especially when the shakes are served by a hometown hero and support a good cause."

"We are thrilled that Red Robin is supporting the Tarrant Area Food Bank on National Chocolate Milkshake Day with the help of local sports figure Derek Holland," said JoAnn Biggers, TAFB community development liaison. "In our service region, one of six individuals struggles with hunger, including one of four children. With a $1 donation, TAFB can provide up to five meals worth of food, so we know Red Robin's donation will make a big difference for numerous people who may not otherwise be able to afford a meal.
