September 17, 2013 – (KANSAS CITY, Mo.) – As the home market continues its march toward recovery, home sellers are continuing to find value in using the auction method of marketing to bring buyers to their properties. According to United Auction Services, a division of United Country Real Estate, August residential numbers were up from the same period last year.
“We saw an increase in not only the number of homes being sold at auction, but a nice boost in volume and prices coming in from these live and online events,” said Mike Jones, president of United Country Auction Services. “Americans are seeing that an auction allows buyers and sellers to quickly agree on a price and move forward with the transaction. Both parties get what they want expeditiously and with an action plan in place to move to closing.”
In August, United Country reported a seven percent increase in the number of homes being sold at auction and an increase of 14 percent in volume over 2012. Additionally, these residential auctions were bringing higher prices for sellers to the tune of seven percent. Auction sales comprise roughly 20 percent of United Country Real Estate’s total business.

Additionally, August showed that interest in commercial auctions with an increase of 33 percent over 2012. United Country’s year-to-date numbers show increases in land sales volume and average price as farmland remains at record highs.
