IHG furthers Indonesian expansion with Holiday Inn Express Jakarta Cikini

September 25, 2013 // Franchising.com // Jakarta - InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, and PT Imesco Sejahtera Utama, have signed an agreement to develop Holiday Inn Express Jakarta Cikini, to open in 2014.

In line with IHG’s robust expansion plans in Indonesia, the 212-room hotel is part of a pipeline of 13 Holiday Inn Express hotels slated to open in the country, out of a total of 19 scheduled to open in South East Asia over the next few years. Holiday Inn Express is one of the largest and fastest growing hotel brands in the world. Since it first launched globally in 1991, it has grown quickly and there are now 2,222 Holiday Inn Express hotels currently open worldwide. There are 37 hotels in development in the Asia, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) region alone.

Widono Salim, President Director at PT Imesco Sejahtera Utama, who also owns the upcoming Holiday Inn Express Jakarta Simatupang and Holiday Inn Express Bogor said, "We are witnessing a boom in business and leisure travel as the country plans to attract 8.6 million international tourists this year, a 7% increase from 2012, and continues to play host to international conferences such as the World Economic Forum on East Asia in 2011.

"This gives us great confidence in the upcoming Holiday Inn Express openings and the accompanying growth potential of the midscale limited services hotel segment in Indonesia."

Situated along Jalan Cikini Raya in Menteng, Central Jakarta, Holiday Inn Express Jakarta Cikini is located in a prime district in close proximity to the Central Business District. Offering a smart choice for business and leisure travellers, guests can look forward to having a refreshing and hassle-free stay with exactly what they need – a great night’s sleep, free breakfast and free Wi-Fi all in a central location at a high quality hotel.

Clarence Tan, IHG’s Chief Operating Officer, South East Asia & Resorts, said, "Indonesia is an extremely important growth market for us and we are excited about opportunities in Jakarta, one of Indonesia’s busiest cities and gateway to the country’s other popular tourist destinations.

"Holiday Inn Express is well-known for providing a compelling alternative to full-service hotels in five-star locations, and we are well poised to cater to the growing market of value-conscious travellers looking to stay overnight or longer in this vibrant city."
