Edgar Asebey-Birkholm to Speak at NLS Food Quality Symposium

October 08, 2013 // Franchising.com // On October 10, 2013, Roetzel partner Edgar Asebey-Birkholm will speak on the implementation of the Food Safety and Modernization Act (FSMA) at the Food Quality Symposium presented by Next Level Summits.

The 5th Annual Food Quality Symposium, to be held at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort in Phoenix, Arizona, on October 10-11, features a peer-to-peer networking environment for top level executives in Safety, Quality Assurance (Q & A) and many other related fields within the food industry. The event features thought leaders from the world’s leading food manufacturers, in addition to other professionals, discussing the key issues of 2013 and beyond. Mr. Asebey-Birkholm’s presentation is entitled, “The Reality of FSMA Implementation – Looking Through the Prism of FDA’s Current ‘Enforcement Culture.’”

Edgar Asebey-Birkholm is partner and FDA Practice Group Manager at Roetzel & Andress LPA. Mr. Asebey’s practice focuses on foods, medical devices, OTC drugs, and cosmetics and he provides counsel to clients on compliance, registration, importation and enforcement matters related to FDA-regulated products. Mr. Asebey assists domestic and foreign clients in registration, clearance, and pre-market approval submissions to the FDA and advises clients on compliance issues associated with labeling and advertising, the manufacturing process, and other regulatory issues associated with the development, manufacture, marketing, and sale of FDA-regulated products. Mr. Asebey works extensively with foreign exporters and domestic importers on FDA-related international trade matters.

Mr. Asebey is a recognized authority on the recently passed Food Safety Modernization Act and has lectured in over 30 forums on FSMA’s impact on U.S. importers, non-U.S. food exporters and food companies. Mr. Asebey holds a degree in molecular biology from The University of Chicago and a law degree from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
