October 14, 2013 // Franchising.com // LOS ANGELES, CA - Across Los Angeles, students at 40 elementary schools are looking for life on Mars - Professor Egghead Science Academy is giving young scientists an opportunity to venture to Mars, for aliens, to promote cool science.
The US has always been a global leader in innovation, largely due to its excellence in science and engineering. However, other countries are challenging that position by placing strong focus on STEM education. In recent years there has been a lack of interest in STEM programs throughout the US and not a strong enough push for STEM based careers. By simply changing the perception of science can solve this problem… In other words, make science cool.
"... Leadership tomorrow depends on how we educate our students today—especially in science, technology, engineering and math."
— President Barack Obama, September 16, 2010
Professor Egghead Science Academy Co-Founder, Shaun Tuch, says “By making science cool and giving young students the tools to appreciate STEM programs – we can keep America #1”. Placing investment in “mini” scientists will help guarantee a prosperous future. Brother and Co-Founder, Gary Tuch, explains “We do REAL science here… no fluff, all fun. There’s no use in hiding the true awesomeness of science from kids.”
This week 400 future scientists will blast off into space and stop off at Mars. From there they will 1) investigate if life has ever existed on Mars and 2) conduct experiments to figure out if life can be sustained on Mars. Not too bad for 4 to 9 year old amateur scientists.
Professor Egghead Science Academy, based in Los Angeles, CA, is the only Academy designed for scientists between the ages of 4 - 12. Founded by self-proclaimed jocks turned scientists, brothers Shaun and Gary Tuch, the national franchise is dedicated to provide the coolest STEM based programs through after school classes, summer camps, workshops and birthday parties.
