Docherty Named President of Good Earth Coffeehouse Chain

CALGARY, ALBERTA - (Marketwired - Oct. 22, 2013) - Good Earth Cafes Ltd, parent company of Good Earth Coffeehouse, announces Gerry Docherty has been appointed President. Docherty assumes his role as President, in addition to continuing responsibilities as Chief Operating Officer.

Gerry joined Good Earth as Director of Operations in 2006, as the company was transitioning from the Founders' ownership to a franchise business model. He was quickly promoted to Vice President of Operations and in 2008 became the company's Chief Operating Officer. "Gerry has played a vital role in creating and maintaining our company operating system, and building an effective and enthusiastic corporate team," says outgoing president, Michael Going.

Gerry is a seasoned executive, with 17 years specifically in the food service and franchise sectors. Throughout his career, Gerry has managed all areas of franchising, with a focus on operations with national brands, including Second Cup, Mr. Submarine, Pizza Pizza, and Comac Food Group. He has a Master's degree in Business Administration from Athabasca University. Gerry sits on the Board of the Canadian Franchise Association.

Founders of Good Earth, Michael Going and Nan Eskenazi will remain actively involved in the company as it expands beyond Western Canada. "We are excited about Gerry's leadership role as President/COO of the company. And we look forward to working with Gerry and the rest of our team to continue growing the Good Earth brand," adds Nan Eskenazi.
