Hilton Worldwide Announces Plan to Launch DoubleTree by Hilton Brand in Chile

Upscale DoubleTree by Hilton Santiago-Vitacura Expected to Open 2014

October 23, 2013 // Franchising.com // SANTIAGO, Chile and MCLEAN, Va. - Hilton Worldwide today announced that DoubleTree by Hilton has signed a deal for its first hotel in Chile that will mark its arrival in Santiago and become the second Hilton Worldwide hotel in the country. The announcement continues a trend of the brand entering prime locations in key business and tourism destinations, including recent deals in Dubai, Toronto and Barcelona.

Through a franchise agreement with Hotelera Vitacura S.A., a new-build, 18-story DoubleTree by Hilton Santiago-Vitacura will be located at 2727 Vitacura Avenue, Las Condes, in the city's main business district. The hotel is scheduled to open mid-2014 and will be managed by Hotelera Vitacura under the leadership of Rodrigo Parot. Parot has more than 25 years of hospitality experience, working with both national and international brands.

John Greenleaf, global head, DoubleTree by Hilton, said, "DoubleTree by Hilton's growth in South America continues and I am thrilled we'll have a presence in such a vibrant, world class destination as Santiago. We very much look forward to providing visitors a warm welcome to what will be an exceptional property in a thriving, central, business location."

DoubleTree by Hilton Santiago-Vitacura plans to offer 230 guest rooms, a restaurant, a café and a bar/lounge. The hotel will have nearly 12,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, which will include offices for both day use and longer term use, boardrooms, and meeting rooms of various sizes. As with all DoubleTree by Hilton hotels, the property will allow guests complimentary access to 24-hour fitness and business centers. High speed wireless internet access will be available in guest rooms and public areas. Also characteristic of the brand is the presentation of a warm, chocolate chip cookie to every guest at check-in, a symbol of the warm and friendly welcome travelers can expect throughout their stay. As part of the Hilton Worldwide portfolio of brands, all DoubleTree hotels participate in the Hilton HHonors guest loyalty program, offering members the ability to earn and redeem points and miles for stays.

Parot, representing Hotelera Vitacura S.A., said, "We are pleased to partner with Hilton Worldwide on what is to become the first DoubleTree by Hilton in the country. We look forward to showcasing this very popular international hotel brand to a new audience here in Chile."

Hilton Worldwide has opened several new properties recently in Latin America, including Waldorf Astoria Panama, Hampton by Hilton Barranquilla and Hampton by Hilton Cartagena. In Chile itself, the company has operated Hilton Garden Inn Santiago - Airport since 2011.
