VooDoo BBQ Franchise Opens Third South Florida Location This Year, With More to Come

Fort Lauderdale-Area VooDoo BBQ Franchise Rides Wave of Sunshine State Love of New Orleans BBQ

NEW ORLEANS, LA - (Marketwired - Oct 29, 2013) - VooDoo BBQ & Grill, a New Orleans-based chain of fast casual restaurants, has opened its third south Florida location, part of a massive, 26-location deal that has earned rave reviews and changed the restaurant landscape in the Sunshine State.

"Most people down here have the same opinion we did: They love the look of the store, the feel, the atmosphere, and everybody loves the food," said Jack Flechner, who leads the BBQ Boyz team of franchise owners developing VooDoo locations in Florida. "I always thought that was the case, so that's why we were attracted to VooDoo in the first place."

BBQ Boyz opened its first location in January in Pembroke Pines, roughly midway between Miami and Fort Lauderdale; and its second in May in Kendall, just southwest of Miami. The third opened Oct. 13, at 6312 North Andrews Ave. at the Cypress Creek Road intersection, in Fort Lauderdale. It's a busy intersection that has the right mixture of convenience and accessibility to lunch and dinnertime crowds, Flechner said.

BBQ Boyz's Florida empire is in its early stages. The area Flechner and his team secured includes all of the state except the panhandle, and in such major markets as Orlando, Tampa-St. Petersburg and Jacksonville in addition to Miami-Fort Lauderdale.

The success of the first two restaurants has surpassed expectations. "Guests' love for our unique New Orleans barbecue and fun, colorful atmosphere is everything we expected and more," Flechner said. "Naturally, we always want to find ways to do even better, and we're always accepting guest feedback to try and make a great product greater ... We're building a new brand down here, so it's not a sprint, it's a marathon."
