Local Entrepreneur Opens Iconic Ice Cream Shop, Awards Free Ice Cream for a Year to Winner and Free Scoops to First 500 Customers

October 30, 2013 // Franchising.com // Rosemont, IL – Life in Rosemont is getting a whole lot sweeter. On Saturday, November 2, Häagen-Dazs Shops, the internationally recognized brand renowned for its high-quality, pure ice cream, sorbets and other finely-crafted frozen desserts, will celebrate the opening of its newest location at the Fashion Outlets of Chicago.

To commemorate the occasion, Häagen-Dazs will be hosting a grand opening celebration, awarding free ice cream for a year to one lucky winner through a raffle on the day of the event. Häagen-Dazs will also be giving a free scoop of their favorite ice cream flavor to the first 500 customers on Saturday.

"We’re excited to bring Häagen-Dazs to the new Fashion Outlets of Chicago," said Nick Thanas, owner of the new Häagen-Dazs Shop. "And we think that sweetening the day a little bit with free ice cream for our new customers is the best way to show our appreciation for the warm welcome we’ve already received."

Founded in 1961 by Reuben Mattus after years of selling frozen treats from a wagon on the streets of New York, the vision for Häagen-Dazs was to produce the highest quality ice cream available using only the finest, purest ingredients. Mattus’ successful execution of this vision led to the launch of the first Häagen-Dazs Shop in 1976, which still operates today in Brooklyn.

Häagen-Dazs Shops of Rosemont will continue to offer unique ice cream and frozen treats created from many of the same recipes that the company was founded upon in 1961. Today, the internationally-recognized brand also offers a unique selection of sorbets, frozen yogurts, frozen beverages and a variety of indulgent frozen desserts including delicious fruit smoothies and Dazzler® Sundae treats.

"Owning a piece of one of the world’s most recognizable brands and being able to operate as my own boss is something that is truly unique and gratifying," added Thanas. "Being able to share that with my local community makes it just that much sweeter."

The new shop is located at 5220 Fashion Outlets Way in Rosemont’s Fashion Outlets of Chicago and operates Monday through Saturday 10am - 9pm and Sunday 10am - 7pm. To reach the store, call (847) 737-2747.
