Marine Veteran Opens Bookkeeping Franchise

Downsizing Was the Nudge He'd Been Waiting For

Glen Allen, Va. (PRWEB) November 06, 2013 - After 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps followed by 10 years in security and emergency management, Rick Henson was downsized. Losing his job turned out to be a blessing in disguise because it led to the purchase of a Bookkeeping Express franchise. "It's something I always wanted to do, but needed a nudge."

Henson's first step was to work with a business coach at The Entrepreneur's Source. The coach encouraged him to secure business funding even before beginning the search for the right franchise and recommended Guidant Financial. "Guidant was a pleasure to work with," Henson says. "The staff was extremely helpful in explaining all the details and responded to my questions immediately."

Financing in hand, Henson—with his business coach’s assistance—began the search for the franchise that fit his personality and background, and finally settled on BookKeeping Express (BKE). “I spoke with BKE leadership and was impressed with their support structure. Greg Jones, CEO, was the deciding factor for me to choose BKE. His drive and desire to grow the business was inspiring. We have similar ideas on growth and leadership with a company.”

Rick Henson’s new business will have a grand opening on Nov. 8 with a ribbon cutting and keynote speech by Rob Anderson, CFO of the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce. The West End BookKeeping Express is located at 4870 Sadler Road, Suite 300 in Glen Allen, Virginia. The phone number is (804) 205-5004.

BookKeeping Express

There are over 29 million small businesses in America—and in most of them the owners are struggling to keep up with the books and payroll. BookKeeping Express (BKE) was founded in California in 1984 to solve the problem by using a virtual services model to provide professional bookkeeping designed specifically for the needs and budgets of small businesses. Through licensing agreements, BKE grew into a national company with more than 150 locations and was purchased in 2007 by Greg Jones, Bob Stocker and Merritt Green who launched the franchise business model in Northern Virginia in January 2008.
