Toys"R"Us, Inc. Appoints Wolfgang Link to Lead its European Business

Dr. Link Will Direct Operations in Nine Countries, Overseeing More Than 250 "R"Us® Stores across Europe; Jacobo Caller Named Managing Director, Toys"R"Us, Iberia

November 13, 2013 // Franchising.com // WAYNE, NJ – Toys"R"Us, Inc. today announced the appointment of Dr. Wolfgang Link as President, Toys"R"Us, Europe and a member of the company’s Global Executive Committee. Dr. Link succeeds Antonio Urcelay, who was named Chief Executive Officer, Toys"R"Us, Inc. in October of this year. In addition, the company appointed Jacobo Caller as Managing Director, Toys"R"Us, Iberia.

In his new role, Dr. Link will oversee the company’s more than 250 stores across Europe, providing leadership for business operations in nine countries: Austria, France, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. He will have broad responsibility for marketing, merchandising, store operations, e-commerce and customer service excellence. Dr. Link will report to Mr. Urcelay.

Dr. Link had previously served as Managing Director, Toys"R"Us, Central Europe since joining the company in 2007, directing business activities for approximately 95 stores in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Poland, where he spearheaded the company’s successful market entry in 2011.

Before joining the organization, Dr. Link held several leadership roles throughout the retail industry, including at ElectronicPartner, one of Europe’s leading retail services and buying organizations in consumer and household electronics, information technology and telecommunications, and prior to that, Metro Cash & Carry, one of the world’s premier international retailing companies.

As the new Managing Director, Toys"R"Us, Iberia, Jacobo Caller will oversee all operations and business activities for the company’s more than 55 stores, e-commerce operations and more than 1,500 employees in Spain and Portugal. He will also be responsible for marketing, merchandising, store operations and delivering superior service to customers. Mr. Caller will report to Dr. Link.

Mr. Caller joins Toys"R"Us, Iberia from the drugstore chain Farmatodo, a leading retailer in Venezuela and Colombia, where he served as President. Prior to that, he worked at Carrefour, the second largest retail company in the world, in roles of increasing seniority, including President, Carrefour Russia and Carrefour Turkey; President, Carrefour Romania; and Managing Director, Carrefour Spain. Mr. Caller began his career in retail as a salesman for the department store chain El Corte Inglés.
