Build-A-Bear Workshop Spreads Holiday Cheer With Marine Toys for Tots Foundation

Company to donate 20,000 stuffed animals through The Great Bear Share with help of Guests

ST. LOUIS - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Nov. 21, 2013 - Build-A-Bear Workshop®, the global interactive retailer of customized stuffed animals, is kicking off its sixth annual campaign to benefit the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation and inviting Guests to join the effort in several ways. Starting November 26, Build-A-Bear Workshop will donate 20,000 stuffed animals to Toys for Tots through "The Great Bear Share," the company’s interactive social media campaign. Additionally, toys will be collected in Build-A-Bear Workshop stores nationwide December 6 – 8 for children who might not otherwise receive a gift on Christmas morning. Guests can also make a monetary donation to support Toys for Tots at checkout registers and online at buildabear.com throughout the holiday season.

"At Build-A-Bear Workshop, we know that small acts of kindness can make a big difference," said Sharon John, Build-A-Bear Workshop chief executive officer. "We are thankful for our longstanding partnership with Toys for Tots that engages our Guests in giving back. Through our donation of furry friends along with support from our Guests, we are able to help make the holiday season brighter for thousands of children across the country."

The Great Bear Share

The Great Bear Share allows fans to help Build-A-Bear Workshop donate stuffed animals to Toys for Tots. A special photo of a U.S. Marine making a Build-A-Bear Workshop stuffed animal will be posted on The Great Bear Share tab of the company’s Facebook page on Nov. 26. Each time this photo is shared on Facebook, Build-A-Bear Workshop will donate a toy to Toys for Tots (up to 20,000).

A Beary Special Toy Drive

The annual Build-A-Bear Workshop Toys for Tots Toy Drive will take place December 6 - 8. Guests can donate new, unwrapped toys at stores across the United States or make and purchase a stuffed animal to donate. Throughout the weekend, volunteer members of the U.S. Marine Corp will be on hand at select stores to collect the toys, which will then be distributed to local underprivileged children.

"Toys for Tots appreciates the continued support of Build-A-Bear Workshop to help children in need this season," said retired Marine Major Bill Grein, Vice President of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. "Through the generosity of Build-A-Bear Workshop and its Guests, we will be able to help many more children have a happy holiday this year."

Build-A-Bear Workshop is one of Toys for Tots’ largest corporate partners. Over the last six years, the company has donated more than 518,000 toys valued at more than $7.8 million and, together with Guests, has raised nearly $1.5 million for the US Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.
