Southwest Student-Athletes Named National Finalists For Wendy's® High School Heisman® Award

Students Surprised with News during High School Celebrations

DUBLIN, Ohio - Nov. 21, 2013 // PRNewswire // - Of the 48,000 students who applied for this year's award, Briana Kuestersteffen from Norman High School North in Norman, OK, and Landon Nault from Kingfisher High School in Kingfisher, OK, were chosen as two of twelve National Finalists for the 2013 Wendy's® High School Heisman® Award. The award honors exceptional students who bring excellence in academics, athletics and community service.

The twelve National Finalists will travel to New York City where two National Winners – one male, one female – will be chosen and each will receive a crystal Wendy's High School Heisman trophy; $10,000 donation to their respective high schools; and recognition during the collegiate Heisman ceremony in New York City on Saturday, December 14, 2013.

Briana Kuestersteffen, Norman High School

Briana Kuestersteffen is a star athlete at Norman High School. She has lettered in both Soccer and Basketball, for which she was named Most Valuable Player, an All-Conference and All-State athlete and has also set four school records. She was also named the Norman Athletic Association Player of the year. In addition to athletics, Briana is a member of the National Honor Society and the Native American National Honor Society. She is involved in her community as a Teen Volunteers Club Special Olympics Coordinator.

Landon Nault, Kingfisher High School

Landon Nault has achieved excellence both on the field and in the classroom at Kingfisher High School. He has lettered in Baseball, Basketball and Football, for which he was named Most Valuable Player, an All-District, All-Conference and All-State athlete and has also set two records. Landon is a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society as well as the National Honor Society. He is involved in his community through his church.

Created in 1994 by Wendy's and the Heisman Memorial Trust, the Wendy's High School Heisman Award recognizes outstanding high-school seniors nationwide who excel in athletics, academics and in the community. Students can nominate themselves for the award online, in addition to being recommended by principals, teachers, guidance counselors and coaches. The most exceptional students are then selected to advance during extensive judging processes conducted at both state and national levels.
